Hello! My name is Brenda
I’m the proud owner of Black Creek Hill Farms. My love for horses began when I was just a child. Growing up, my daddy always made sure my sisters and I had a pony to ride—and later, a horse. While we couldn’t afford riding lessons, we didn’t let that stop us. We would saddle up and ride around the neighborhood every chance we got, creating lifelong memories.
As an adult, I bought my first horse and decided I wanted to show. Without formal training, I attended and competed in as many horse shows as I could, learning by watching others. I read books, watched videos, and connected with amazing people who were generous enough to guide me along the way.
Twenty-five years ago, I started teaching riding lessons because I wanted to provide less fortunate children, like myself, with opportunities I never had growing up. My goal has always been to make lessons affordable and accessible.

At Black Creek Hill Farms, I offer reasonable pricing as well as a work-to-ride program, allowing students to earn their lessons while deepening their knowledge of horses beyond the basics.
Over the years, my horses and I competed in numerous shows, dedicating ourselves to improving and perfecting our craft. Together, we’ve brought home countless ribbons, and most importantly, invaluable knowledge. While I no longer compete, I’ve spent the past 25 years sharing my passion and experience through instruction. It’s been a privilege to help thousands of children and adults discover the joy and art of riding and competing. Many of my former students—now adults with children of their own—still return to visit and share their experiences.
God has blessed Black Creek Hill Farms far beyond what I could have ever imagined. He has made my dream come true and placed incredible people in my life who have become lifelong friends. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my love of horses and riding with every rider who joins our farm family.

Carrie Adams
My name is Carrie. I work full-time at a hospital. I began volunteering about three years ago at Black Creek Hill Farms. It has been the most rewarding experience I have ever had. I struggle with anxiety and panic attacks, and I embarked on a journey to improve my physical and mental well-being. I look forward to visiting the barn daily. I have acquired a significant amount of knowledge and met some truly remarkable individuals. We have an exceptional barn family. My favorite part of being part of this barn family, aside from the friends, is bonding with the animals. I’ve been able to learn each animal and their personalities, and I love every second of it.

Tasha Burgoyne
Hello, I'm Tasha, and Black Creek Hill Farms has truly become a haven for our family. After moving from AZ to NC in 2021, we were fortunate to find this wonderful place. From the moment we met Mrs. Brenda, we knew it was the perfect fit. My daughter has flourished in her riding skills, and volunteering together has strengthened our bond while teaching her confidence and the value of hard work. Watching her grow and build friendships has been the greatest reward. My goal is to help create a space for kids to learn and grow both at the barn and in life, through positivity and guidance. I love seeing our kids growth and I love working on the farm. Being part of the farm family and sharing these experiences makes it all feel more like a joy than work.
